Leadership

(Pastor) David Hawkins

Bro. David Hawkins was born in Denton, Texas and has spent most of his life in the Hunt County area. He graduated from Wolfe City High School in 1980 and Texas A&M College Station in 1984. After working in Houston as a mechanical engineer, he returned to Wolfe City, self-employed in residential construction. He met his wife Kay from Greenville and they were married in 1994. Being raised in church, he taught Sunday School and became a jail chaplain in the Hunt County Jail. After attending a tent revival in Celeste in 2001 and hearing a sermon on “The Wheat and the Tares”, the Holy Spirit began to strongly convict David about his own salvation. He realized at that time that he had never surrendered his life to the Lordship of Jesus Christ in order to have a personal relationship with Him. After struggling with that decision and questioning the validity of his salvation, at age 39, he surrendered to Christ during the following night’s revival service. Shortly afterward, the Lord called him to preach. With the boldness of his new salvation he preached in several Hunt County area churches. He served as pastor at Reavilon Baptist Church in Greenville, Merit Baptist Church in Merit and Associate Pastor at Old Concord Baptist Church near Greenville prior to becoming pastor of Valley Creek Baptist Church in 2013. David longs to see true repentance and revival in our land. He and his wife, Kay, live in the Kingston Community south of Celeste.
